Dr. Ajay Sharma

Board Certified: Emergency Medicine

Certified: Medical Acupuncture, Helms Medical Institute

Memberships: American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, American Osteopathic Association, Illinois Osteopathic Association, American Osteopathic Mentor, American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians

Residency: Michigan State University, POH medical center, Pontiac, MI

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine: Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine

Academic Appointments: Utilization Review, Paramedic/EMT educator, Illinois Burn Committee

Hospital Affiliations: Centegra Health System, McHenry Co, Illinois

Dr. Sharma is an accomplished physician with experience in emergency departments large and small. He is experienced in mass casualty trauma, NIU shootings of 2008. He has given lectures in emergency medicine throughout his hospital affiliations.

Dr. Sharma practiced contemporary hospital medicine for a decade, until his wife became a patient of Dr. Feely. She experienced a kind of healing not previously achieved with her traditional, western trained physicians. This compelled Dr. Sharma to pursue his osteopathic roots.

In the years since, Dr. Sharma’s role as an osteopathic physician has grown by working with his mentor, Richard Feely, DO, and by integrating Osteopathy in the Cranial Field and Medical Acupuncture.

“Dr. Feely challenged me to become a true Doctor of Osteopathy: a holistic, well rounded physician. Clinical Osteopathy leads the physician to think of the body as a whole. Treating only one part of the body is not enough. One has to completely respect the inherent, healing mechanism that exists within the body. The human body is not just the sum of its parts; it is something much, much more.”

Medical Acupuncture follows a similar tenet. Whether it is Helms French Energetics, Five Elements, or Yamamoto Scalp Acupuncture, all can be combined with Osteopathy to create a synergism that can help unblock your body’s spirit and make you whole again.

“At the Feely Center, I will listen to you and your body in order to come up with a proper strategy to improve your health and your quality of life. I will use my knowledge of and skill in both traditional medicine and alternative medicine in order to do this. I will give your body what it wants and needs. Nothing more and nothing less.”
